Customer Enabling Workshops

In addition to our customized solutions, we also offer a series of onsite workshops that are knowledge transfer sessions designed to enable our customers to come up to speed quickly on our virtual infrastructure technologies and best practices. These workshops offer an alternative to the services we provide by harnessing many popular capabilities of the VIM to give you sufficient knowledge to undertake many aspects of virtual infrastructure deployment on your own.

Our base Consulting workshops provide initial exposure to our core virtualization platform products with an objective of getting a prototype up and running on your hardware in your environment for the purposes of discussion, knowledge transfer and testing. These Consulting workshops supplement our training classes offered by VMware Education Services and are designed for solutions architecting and planning sessions, rather than formal training.

Base Consulting Workshops include:

ESX Server Jumpstart : This workshop quickly and efficiently exposes you to the capabilities of VMware ESX Server(tm), virtual machine software for consolidating and partitioning servers in high-performance environments. A VMware consultant will assist you in the installation and configuration of a prototype and provide an introduction to creating and using virtual machines and administering and operating VMware ESX Server.
VirtualCenter Jumpstart : This workshop quickly and efficiently exposes you to the capabilities of VMware VirtualCenter(tm) in conjunction with an existing ESX Server installation. A VMware consultant will assist you in the installation and configuration of a VirtualCenter management server and provide an introduction to managing and provisioning virtual machines via VirtualCenter.
Physical to Virtual (P2V) Migrations Jumpstart : This workshop exposes you to a proven methodology to move and consolidate existing physical servers into VMware virtual machines. P2V Migrations are ideal for customers involved in server consolidation or legacy migration projects in situations where recreating existing servers is not feasible or practical. A VMware consultant will help you find a process to convert your existing servers into virtual servers within the shortest timeframe possible. This workshop requires an existing VMware ESX Server, GSX Server, or Workstation installation.
ACE Jumpstart : This workshop quickly and efficiently exposes you to the capabilities of VMware ACE. A VMware consultant will assist you in the installation and configuration of a prototype ACE Manager and provide an introduction to creating and using ACE packages and policies.

The ESX Server, VirtualCenter, and P2V Migrations Jumpstart workshops are available individually or as combined sessions delivered in less time at a reduced price.

For existing VMware customers, we also offer a series of advanced onsite workshops designed to maximize your investment in virtual infrastructure. Advanced Consulting Workshops include:

Disaster Recovery and Backup (DRB) : This advanced workshop explores backup and recovery considerations and issues with respect to an existing VMware ESX Server installation. A VMware consultant will demonstrate various backup and recovery techniques with respect to ESX Server.
Virtual Infrastructure Health Check : This advanced workshop examines your existing virtual infrastructure environment to ensure optimal configuration and consistency with respect to VMware best practices. A VMware consultant will review your existing installation and provide an assessment report as well as supplemental knowledge transfer.
Virtual Infrastructure Performance Management : This advanced workshop helps you understand performance considerations and issues with respect to virtual infrastructure. A VMware consultant will present our performance monitoring and tuning methodology and show you how to troubleshoot common performance-related problems.
Virtual Infrastructure Security Management : This advanced workshop helps generate awareness of security best practices and develop your staff's skills on managing security with respect to virtual infrastructure. A VMware consultant will present our security monitoring and protection methodology and conduct a security review of an existing VMware ESX Server installation.
